Hello, I’m Chris!
I’m an interaction designer, specialising in designing accessible and usable services that real people can use.
I currently work at the Government Digital Service (GDS) working on GOV.UK Forms. Helping civil servants across government create accessible online forms in minutes without needing technical knowledge.
As part of my time at GDS I have:
- worked as part of a multidisciplinary team to create a form creation platform that is accessible and usable by form creators (civil servants)
- used my knowledge and expertise to inform how the Forms platform generates forms that can be hosted on GOV.UK that citizens can use
- talked about the Forms platform at multiple events, including Code for America May 2023
My previous experience includes:
- working at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) promoting united patterns across services using the gov design principles, and helping them move towards a unified approach of user-centred design
- helping teams across HMRC meet standards and use the best pattern to meet user needs
- assessing services against the Government Design Principles (previously the GDS standards)
I also mentor new, existing and prospective interaction designers across private and public sector.
